Tourism

Your life will be enriched if you .....
Go to a reservation to learn more about the diverse lifestyles and cultures
that our country has. Go with respect, go to see a Powwow, go to buy
Indian crafts or art, go to make a new friend, and go to have fun!

We will start with the Pine Ridge Reservation since we know more about it than other reservations.
The large map below shows two major highways leading to it, I-90 from the Northeast, and 79 out of
Rapid City coming from the Northwest. Most folks go into Rapid City first, then onto the Black hills
and reservation. If you are in Rapid City you must see The Journey Museum where a grand overview of the
area is presented, and Prairie Edge, a beautiful store of Indian art, crafts, books, and music.

If you are traveling from the east you would want to go through the rez first. Turn south off Interstate 90
to Interior,
where the Badlands National Park is. There will be food, lodging and a
campground near the park.
When traveling through Pine Ridge take some snacks, you will be in a remote area.
